We all have that one subject that we dreaded in school and we celebrated the day we would never have to do it again. But if you have found yourself homeschooling, then Surprise it's time to go through it again!
For me that subject was Math. I hated Math in school, just the thought of going back to fractions, algebra, and the Pythagorean theorem is enough to send any mama running for the hills!
But you don't have to dread those subjects anymore, there are so many ways to teach your kiddos subjects that you aren't confident in!
Learn Together!
One of the best gifts you can give your children is letting them watch you learn. You can easily teach homeschool subjects you aren't confident by learning along with them. Knowing that you are teaching them not only is learning a lifelong experience but it also shows them that it is okay to admit that you don't know something and take the initiative to learn it.
Take Advantage of Resources!
It is 2023 and the internet is full of amazing resources. Way more resources than we had when I started homeschooling in 2016! There are apps, programs, and tutors to help you teach any subject more confidently! I have used some amazing resources like AbcMouse, Homeschool+, TableFables, education.com, and more. And let's not forget the power of TikTok! A simple search like how to multiply fractions will give you a ton of different videos that breaks it down for you in different ways.
Lean on the Community
Having a homeschool community to lean on and connect with is an amazing experience for every homeschool mom to have. They can provide valuable insights, resources, even co-ops to help you teach any subject more confidently. Finding a homeschool community isn't always the easiest so if you are looking for one stay tuned for the Teach Like A Mutha homeschool community launching January 2024!
Remember homeschooling is an ever-evolving journey and you don't have to be an expert in every subject. It's all about learning, growing and adapting together. Embrace the resources and community available to you and don't forget to enjoy it! Fill your days with fun and laughter and go out there and tackle one subject at a time!
